San Diego’s favorite kick-off to the holiday season, December Nights, took place for the 32nd consecutive year on Friday, December 4 and Saturday, December 5. In the spirit of the holidays, participating Balboa Park museums opened their doors free of charge and offered entertainment, wonderful food and holiday cheer to this classic celebration.
In the wee hours of Dec. 4, two of our Chemistry team members stepped out to brave the cold weather for the December Nights media morning. Numerous San Diego broadcast crews attended in order to capture a sneak peek of the evening’s festivities.
This year, December Nights featured food from around the globe, unique gift shopping at the museum stores and musical and dance presentations from the San Diego Junior Theatre, San Diego Civic Youth Ballet, Del Cerro Baptist’s Christmas Story Tree and more. The Barona Band of Mission Indians also brought back the popular “My Ancestors’ Village,” a re-creation of a traditional Native American village, as a tribute to the local Tribes and the important role they have played in San Diego’s history.
It is safe to say that December Nights was a huge success and we can’t wait to see what they have in store for next year!
